Ian

My full name is Ian P. Jones II, Ian Jones just doesn't cut it for me. I hail from the Bronx, I am an art student attending Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School, and this is my senior year. In February, I was a part of the senior art show exhibiting a sample of my art done on my computer. Fortune followed me into March where I was not only an exhibitor in the senior photography show, but I was able to cocurate it as well. I have been a published illustrator for the teen publication New Youth Communications.

Now is the time I should mention that photography has been my passion for a little over five years. I can't draw as well as I wish I did, so naturally I adopted photography as my forte and I have done graphic design for two years so far. Silk screening is in the process of being one of my other artistic pursuits. While we are on the subject, I would also like to learn how to play the guitar, and maybe even the piano (again). Music has always been my safety blanket but I've never really been interested in playing it until now. I did play the steel drums for a time, but playing an instrument you don't like is the same as marrying someone you don't love unconditionally.

I hope to attend either The Cooper Union or The School of Visual Arts (I'm still waiting to hear from these schools) and I will be majoring in photography. Digital photography is my personal preference but there is something alluring about using a standard 35mm camera.

The motion picture is one of the world's greatest inventions. In my opinion, this medium of self-expression is one of the most effective, especially in the present, to send a message of any kind to the masses.

I'm pursuing a career in advertising, photojournalism, and maybe web design. One thing that is really unnerving to me is that there isn't enough love in the world and things are just getting worse. I'm the person who is going to save it.
